Schedule an assessment. The Jefferson County Public Schools Adult Education program has a variety of free classes and programs available, at multiple locations, with schedules to suit your needs. Give them a call to schedule a personal appointment. The first appointment will include an assessment of your skills and needs so that you and your advisor can put together a program that works for you.
Study at home. Study and reinforce the material you learn in class between classes. You can also study in front of the television with KET's "GED Connection" program.
Take practice exams. You can register for study materials and free practice exams online through PBS Literacy Link. Take as many practice exams as you need to in order to feel comfortable with the material. When you take practice tests, find a quiet place to sit without distractions or interruptions and try to take the entire test in one sitting, without struggling over difficult or unsure answers.
Register for the test. Talk to your adult education advisor to find out when you're "test-ready." When you are, register for the test. Write down the date, time and location of the test and keep it in a safe place.
Take the test. Get a good night's sleep the night before and a healthy breakfast the morning of your exam. Arrive with your ID at your testing center at least 30 minutes in advance.
