The ICS-300 training program is based on the "National Incident Management System (NIMS) National Curriculum Training Development Guidance" published in March 2007. The training program is taught by federal, state, local, tribal and private sector training organizations.
Among the compulsory subjects taught during ICS-300 are ICS staffing and organization, transfer of command and ICS forms. Also included in the course are unified command functions in multijurisdictional or multiagency incidents and resource management.
Individuals taking part in the ICS-300 training program should hold positions in incident command programs such as section chiefs, command staff and unit leaders. The ICS-300 training course lasts between 20 and 22 hours.
