What Is GRID Training?

GRID training is a form of online education tool that was developed by SetFocus, which offers training and career development programs for information technology professionals. GRID is an acronym that stands for Global Remote Instructional Delivery.
  1. Purpose

    • GRID training is intended to take advantage of the efficiencies and convenience of online training, while incorporating some of the advantages of classroom courses. GRID training is remote and online, but it is also live and directed by an instructor who is face to face with those in the class via the computer.

    Technology

    • GRID uses Polycom video and audio conferencing technology tools and Microsoft Virtual Machines to create an online classroom environment. The tools are used to enable live connections between students with instructors who are based at the SetFocus facilities in New Jersey. Students can speak with teachers rather than use instant messaging or chats to interact. Live Meeting and NetSupport tools allow for sharing of content.

    Course

    • SetFocus offers its "Master's Program" in four areas of information technology. The course tracks range in length from eight weeks to 14 weeks. The tracks are .NET Training, SharePoint Training, SQL Server Training and MS Business Intelligence Training. Each course is offered through the GRID system.
