Southwestern Michigan is a community college just outside of Dowagiac. The Digital Home Technology Integration course is the longest running of its kind in Michigan and offers one- to two-year courses, with classes twice a week. Some semester courses are only available at night, while you can take other courses during the day. The course is fully certified and includes a preparatory course for the DHTI certification exam. While Southwestern does not have job placement programs in this field, they are a well-established college with a long-standing reputation, which will benefit graduates in finding work. The college was established more than 50 years ago and is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Schoolcraft College offers certificate programs in networking and home technology integration. The one-year program is industry-certified and provides students with in-depth knowledge with a focus on computer networks. The course of study is designed for both young and mature adults and can be tailored to students who already have knowledge in the field. It is a fully transferable program, which makes it ideal for students who wish to continue study at a university. Its courses are flexible but not all of them are offered every term, so students must check with the college counseling department. Schoolcraft College's main campus is in Livonia, Michigan; the school was established in 1961.
Jackson Community College, in Jackson Michigan, offers more generalized courses in information and computer technologies. These include climate control technology, systems management and electronic technologies. It does not offer a specific digital home integration technology course; however, the variety of courses allows flexibility and specialization in a field of your choice. Students can apply many of these courses to a career as a technology integrator.
JCC has also implemented a special service that offers lower fees to residents of Michigan and gives preference to locals in yearly student intakes. In the winter semester of 2011, Jackson Community College has 10,000 students and offers online programs to students around the world.
