How to Make Ramen in a Dorm Room

Ramen, while not especially nutritious, provides a cheap, easy meal for college students with little cash flow. The variety of flavors and the ability to add your own seasonings or other ingredients make it possible to eat this noodle dish regularly without becoming bored by the same fare. Since most dorm rooms do not have stove tops, it generally is necessary to make Ramen using a microwave, electric coffeemaker or hotpot.

Instructions

    • 1

Boil water in a microwave, using a microwave-safe bowl, or in a teapot or coffeemaker. The boiling time will vary depending on which type of appliance you use.

    • 2

Pour boiling water into the bowl from which you plan to eat your Ramen. This can be the same bowl used for boiling the water in a microwave.

    • 3

Crush the Ramen noodles with your hand while they are still in the package.

    • 4

Open the package and pour the noodles into the hot water, and cook for about two minutes. The cooking time will vary based on the power of your microwave. If you are not using a microwave, cover the bowl with a plate, or even a textbook, and let it simmer for two minutes.

    • 5

      Mix in the flavor packet.
