The South Hills and North Hills Beauty Academies, located at 3269 West Liberty Ave. and 813 West View Park Drive, respectively, offer classes in cosmetology, manicuring and nail design, esthetics and skin care and even cosmetology teacher training. New classes start on a monthly basis and are taught by industry professionals that are themselves educated on the latest cosmetology trends, ideas and methods. The school offers monthly payment plans and financial aid and provides its graduates with life-long job placement support.
Located near the North Hills Village Mall, the Empire Beauty School is a cosmetology school that offers traditional cosmetologist training, including hair cutting/coloring, esthetician's training and nail technician's training, along with cosmetologist instructor training. The Port Authority bus system routes 12A and 13A have stops near the school and parking is provided for all of its students. There are also two child care centers nearby if child care is an issue. Empire Beauty Schools also work closely with the Regis Corporation to provide their students with job opportunities upon graduation.
The Bella Capelli Academy is a Paul Mitchell Partner school located off of Route 60. The school uses a teaching method that hinges on the idea that everyone has multiple intelligences and that every student learns differently. After a student's learning strengths are identified, the instructors teach the student in a way that is best suited for them. Graduates from Bella Capelli can seek jobs in hair design, skin care, makeup, aromatherapy, nail artistry, sales and marketing, making Bella Capelli more than a "beauty school."
The Pittsburgh Multicultural Cosmetology Academy is a private cosmetology school located at 415 Smithfield St. in downtown Pittsburgh. The school offers general cosmetology training for: new, unlicensed cosmetologists; advanced training for licensed cosmetologists; cosmetology instructor training; and is the only school in Pennsylvania to offer natural hair braider training. Class sizes are kept small so that instructors can give each student the attention they need to learn the fundamentals of hair design.
