  1. Jefferson Community & Technical College

    • Jefferson Community & Technical College, located in Louisville, offers an automobile certification program for prospective auto mechanics. Students will get hands-on coursework in transmissions, brakes, electronic systems, engine repair, heating and air conditioning, suspension systems and many other aspects of auto mechanics. Students who complete the Automotive Technology program at JCC receive an AAS (Associate of Applied Science) Degree or diploma. Several certificates are also offered for those who want to receive extra training or specialize in specific automotive fields.

    Bluegrass Community & Technical College

    • Bluegrass Community & Technical College, in Lexington, offers an Automotive Technology program where students study engine repair, engine performance, heating and air conditioning systems and many other aspects of auto maintenance and repair. Students can earn an Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Technology or a diploma in Automotive Technology. The program also offers several different certifications in specific areas of the automotive field.

    Somerset Community College

    • Somerset Community College offers an Automotive Technology program with instruction on engines, transmissions, automobile computers, steering and suspension systems and brakes. Students who finish the entire program will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in General and Occupational Studies, but some may opt to finish their training earlier in the program and receive one of many certificates. After four credit hours have been completed, students will be certified as automotive air conditioning mechanics. Complete six more hours of credit to be an automotive electrician. Sixty-seven credit hours in the Automotive Technician program are required before a diploma is awarded.
