Universal Technical Institute (UTI) only offers coursework in automotive-related repair. UTI has two campuses in California, one in Los Angeles and another in Sacramento. Both campuses offer hands-on automotive technology training and diesel and industrial technology training as core programs. The Sacramento campus also offers collision repair and refinish technology training. Both campuses offer elective programs to allow students to gain a specialty, such as Nissan vehicles, Ford vehicles, Toyota vehicles and air-conditioning. UTI receives its accreditation from The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.
WyoTech is a technical school offering a wide array of hands-on automotive, diesel and motorcycle technical courses, as well as HVAC, plumbing and electrician classes. WyoTech has three campuses in California: Fremont, Long Beach and Sacramento. Each Wyotech campus has its own accreditation, but all three California campuses are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. Each campus has its own set of courses, with Sacramento offering the most courses and Fremont having the only Automotive Service Excellence Master Certified diploma program.
UEI College is a career school that offers automotive repair and many other programs. UEI receives its accreditation from Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training. There are 12 UEI campuses throughout California, but only the Gardena campus offers the automotive technician program. UEI indicates that a student could earn an automotive technician diploma in as few as 32 weeks. The program covers five main topics: advanced engine performance, on-board computerized engine control, fuel systems, fuel injection and emissions control systems.
Los Angeles Trade-Tech College is a career and vocational college that provides a wide array of career programs; one is automotive and related technology. The college also offers a diesel, alternative fuel and hybrid technology course for those looking to specialize. The college originally opened as the Frank Wiggins Trade School in 1965 and remains the oldest in the Los Angeles Community College District. Los Angeles Trade-Tech college receives its accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.
