Phlebotomy Courses in Northern VA

A phlebotomist is a person who's trained to take blood specimen collections, otherwise known as the art of venipuncture. Once the blood specimen has been collected, a phlebotomist will prepare the tubes for lab analysis. From there, the lab uses the specimens to help make a patient diagnosis.

    • The Medical Laboratory Technology/Phlebotomy Program at Northern Virginia Community College is a five-semester program for full-time students. As a graduate of the program you'll receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree. The school also offers online education for the practicing phlebotomist, which is for phlebotomists, nurses, and medical and lab assistants who have performed phlebotomy for at least one year. This course provides the theory you'll need for phlebotomy certification.
