Bachelor's and Master of Arts degrees are offered at Annamalai. Majors include Philosophy, Library and Information Science, Sociology, Economics, History and English. Part-time and evening post-graduate and certificate program courses are available in Archive Keeping, Human Rights and Peace and Guidance and Counseling. Entrance exams and proof of a bachelor's degree are required for Arts and Science post-graduate programs; courses within this vast program include Social Psychology, Romantic and Victorian Period and Shakespeare.
Students participating in coursework in the engineering and technology program are eligible for scholarships through the university. Bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees are offered, with concentrations in Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering. Pharmacy and Mathematics also fall under this program. Diplomas are offered in Energy Engineering, as well, with part-time and evening classes. Courses in this department include New Energy Sources and Energy Audit and Conservation.
Annamalai University prides itself as a "teaching school", and offers bachelor's and master's degrees in Education, Physical Education and Sport Sciences and Psychology. Education concentrations include instruction in English or Tamil, and admission in the Bachelor of Education programs is rigid. Candidates must take part in a selection test, which is a set of 100 questions given over a two-hour time period. Passing marks are required for entry into the program. There is no age limit for admission candidates.
Annamalai University works in conjunction with The Rajah Muthiah Medical College Hospital and is one of the few medical colleges in India run by a private university. Post-graduate degree programs are offered in 18 different areas of specialty, including Pediatrics, Anesthesia and Anatomy. The Faculty of Medicine offers undergraduate courses in Nursing and Physiotherapy. A one-year diploma certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery is also offered through the Department of Medical Education.
