Tidewater Tech Trades provides skilled labor training and coursework as part of job-specific certification programs in auto technician, HVAC technician and welding careers. Certification provides both general and specialized coursework to prepare graduates for an entry-level job in their field. In addition to technical knowledge and skills, Tidewater Tech Trades emphasizes work habits and attitudes, including time management and organization skills. Tidewater Tech Trades is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.

Norfolk Technical Center is a vocational high school. Programs include business and information technology, marketing education, technology education, family and consumer sciences and health occupations. Norfolk Technical Center also provides training opportunities for adults: apprenticeship classes in cosmetology, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry and health assisting occupations, and evening classes in auto service and repair, welding, electrical wiring, pharmacy tech and computers. High school and adult students can earn an industry certification in fashion marketing, HVAC or auto body repair. High school students must be in the 10th through 12th grades to attend, while adults must have a high school diploma or GED.

Tidewater Community College provides two-year programs to prepare students with career and technical training or transfer credits to a four-year college or university. The career and technical education programs include agricultural business technology, arts and design technology, business technology, engineering and industrial technology, health occupations and public service technology. Students have three degree options: career studies, which can be completed in one or two semesters; certificate programs, which can be completed in two or three semesters; and associate's degree programs, which last two years. All associate's degree programs include a computer competency requirement in addition to the general and field-specific coursework. Tidewater Community College has locations throughout Virginia, including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and multiple Naval and Coast Guard military bases on the Virginia coast.
