Phlebotomy Courses in Georgia

Students can take courses in the study of phlebotomy at two-year community colleges throughout the state of Georgia. The courses are required for completing a phlebotomy certificate program. The courses prepare students for work as a phlebotomy technician. Phlebotomy technicians work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics and nursing homes, to draw blood from patients.

Atlanta Technical College offers a phlebotomy technician certificate program that consists of the school's medical lab technology program, medical assisting diploma and medical assisting degree program courses. To receive a phlebotomy technician certificate, students must complete a minimum of 20 credit hours. The phlebotomy technician certificate program takes a minimum of two quarters to complete. Students enrolled in the program must complete anatomy and physiology, medical terminology for allied health, introduction to venipuncture and clinical practice.
