WyoTech is a private automotive technology school with six locations in the United States, including one in Blairsville, a community 42 miles east of Pittsburgh. The school's automotive technology program includes training in engine systems, drivability diagnostics, drive trains and chassis work. All students in the program have the opportunity to specialize in applied service management, high-performance powertrains, light-duty diesel, motorsports chassis fabrication or street rod and custom fabrication as a part of the program. The school also offers programs in diesel technology and collision bodywork. Federal and state financial aid and veteran's benefits are available for qualified students.

Located to the north of the downtown section of Pennsylvania's largest city, the Community College of Philadelphia is a public, two-year college with nearly 35,000 for-credit students. The college offers two associate of applied science degrees, one in automotive technology in service technology and one in management and marketing. Both degrees require two years of full-time study. The management and marketing program focuses on the business side of the auto repair industry with required classes in algebra, computer science, accounting, management principles, basic auto repair techniques and business law. Students in the service program complete coursework in suspension, electronics, engine repair, transmissions, braking systems and air conditioning and heating. An internship is offered in both fields of study. The college participates in federal and state financial aid. The Career Services Center offers help with resume-writing and interview preparation.

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology is a state-owned, public technology school in Lancaster, a community 71 miles east of Philadelphia. The school has about 800 students. According to the school’s website, the school has a job placement rate of 98 percent among graduates from the 2007 to 2008 school year. All of the school's courses of study are open only to Pennsylvania residents, including the automotive technology Associate of Applied Science degree program.
