California LPN Programs

Nursing is a career that allows its members to have job security as there are different types of nurses who work in various facilities that require specific skills. The types of nurses in California include License Vocational Nurses or LVNs. Other states refer to this type of nurse as License Practical Nurses or LPNs, but the function of each is identical because they are synonymous nursing terms.

    • American Career College has campuses in Orange County, Ontario and Los Angeles. The Vocational Nursing Program focuses on the fundamentals of nursing through patient care, assessment, diagnostic measurements, procedures and treatments.

      The coursework includes classes such as anatomy and physiology, medical surgical nursing, newborn and child care, pharmacology and infectious diseases.

      The full-time program takes one year to complete, and the weekend/evening program is completed in 20 months.

    Bay Area College of Nursing

    • Bay Area College of Nursing is an educational system that is comprised of four different campus located throughout the East Bay area in cities such as Palo Alto, Daly City, Milpitas and San Jose.

      The Vocational Nursing Program promotes the development of each student's intellect, nursing skills and social values. The coursework includes 1,644 hours of comprehensive theory and clinical training. The coursework is divided into three separate terms that are titled Foundations of Nursing and Basic Medical Surgical Nursing, Intermediate Medical Surgical Nursing, Advanced Medical Surgical Nursing/OB and Pediatrics.

      Admission requirements include 14 perquisites such as a tetanus test, personal malpractice insurance, a laptop and two letters of recommendation.

    Career Networks Institute

    • The Career Networks Institute (CNI) has been providing vocational education to Orange County since 1994. CNI has seven different programs available in the heath careers field that includes vocational nursing.

      The LVN program at CNI is committed to cultural diversity and the pursuit of lifelong learning. The program is 52 weeks in length, and federal aid is available to those who qualify. There are also career planning and graduate services dedicated to students who have completed the program.

      The CNI LVN Program is accredited and approved by several agencies such as the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and the California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS).
