In addition to offering the basic LPN program, Spokane Community College also offers students an opportunity for advancement. The LPN program at the school accepts students every fall and spring. Course work consists of general education courses, nursing classes and supervised clinical assignments.
After successful completion of four quarters in the program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN. Once students pass the test, they can legally begin working as an LPN in hospitals, long-term care facilities, physician's offices or home health care agencies. However, if they choose to further their education, they have an opportunity to stay at Spokane Community College and continue in the program. After only three additional quarters, students qualify to take the NCLEX-RN test. After successful completion of this test, they earn the title of Registered Nurse, which typically allows for greater job flexibility and higher pay.
