Crane America has a training facility for operator certification as well as classes for crane maintenance personnel. These classes are offered at the Miamisburg, Ohio facility, or Crane America will send an instructor to provide on-site training. The standard training is in overhead crane operations, but the school also provides mobile crane instruction. The courses are designed to test the effectiveness of each operator, and there are exams given to determine the proficiency of each operator.

Associated Training Services (ATS), in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, certifies crane operators for fixed cab or swing cab cranes as well as lattice boom cranes. The school offers hands-on and classroom training. Each class is taught by certified instructors, and classes begin every three weeks. Financial aid is available for those students who qualify.

The Tower Crane School of Phoenix does more than just teach the operations of tower cranes. The school has instructors for track cranes, fixed cab cranes, mobile cranes and even classes for riggers. The program includes classroom instruction, crane simulators and hands-on experience. The school teaches beginners as well as experienced crane operators. Within four weeks, students learn not just the operations of a crane, but load calculation, distribution of slings and load bearing material.
