According to Salary.com, "The median expected salary for a typical Crane/Tower Operator in the United States is $41,316" as of spring 2010. Many state laws require that you be certified to operate heavy equipment, such as backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders and mobile cranes, and proper training is required.
