Typically, mobile forensic training includes topics such as mobile phone technology, current forensic practices and equipment, forensic examination methods and processes, physical acquisitions and case preparation. Advanced courses are available that focus more in-depth on specific software programs or platforms (i.e. Android, smartphones, etc.).
Typically, it takes between one and two days to complete a class in mobile forensic training. However, to become an expert in the field, multiple classes focusing on different areas of training must be attended.
The typical cost for an introductory course as of 2010 is about $500 while advanced forensic courses can cost more than $3,500 according to Mobile Forensics World. Many organizations provide discounts to those that can provide current military or police identification.
Though not offered by all trainers, some courses count as credit toward a certification as a mobile forensics certified examiner. Check with a training institution before enrolling to see if they participate in this program.
