The Acoustic Edge Institute has been in southeast Texas since 2002 and has three campuses throughout Houston. This institute specializes in mobile electronics, fabrication and custom interiors. The classes are structured in four-week sessions with hands-on training in each specialty. Students do not need previous knowledge and are welcome to work on their own cars while receiving training. This program trains students to become a Mobile Electronic Certified Professional (MECP).

Along with learning about brakes and steering systems, students will learn about the conventional and computerized electrical systems of cars. This 50-week program focuses on training about computerized diagnostic systems and computerized electrical systems.

The Universal Technical Institute, which has has locations across the country, prepares students to become trained technicians who are informed about mobile electronics. The Houston campus offers a Ford Accelerated Credential Training (FACT) program, which offers advanced training in electronics, diagnostic equipment and climate control systems. The nine-week Nissan Advanced Technician Training (NATT) program also focuses on electrical systems.
