International Schools offers a 200-hour training course in truck driving which includes safe driving techniques, vehicle inspections, trip planning, maintaining a log book, emergency responsibilities and legal issues. Graduates should be ready to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) and gain jobs as OTR truckers. Students must go through an admissions interview, have a valid driver's license and pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam, which includes a drug screen, before enrollment. The school also offers job placement assistance; most students are pre-hired before they graduate.

Stevens Transport offers its own company-sponsored training. Students do not need to have any previous trucking experience, and the company trains on the same equipment that drivers will be using on the road. Stevens offers financing for students who are employable and who make a one-year commitment to work for the company after they graduate and obtain their CDL. Training time at the academy is not paid, but there is an eight-week apprenticeship period, where you work as part of a team with an experienced certified trainer and are paid $350 per week, with an extra $100 per week for loading and unloading.
