    • Truck Driver Institute (TDI) is a multicampus career institute specifically for future commercial truck drivers. The Institute includes a campus in Saucier, just half an hour from Biloxi. In addition to commercial driver training, students at TDI enjoy career placement assistance, including job fairs from local employers. TDI offers a variety of options for students to finance their education, including an in-house financial aid program and training sponsored by local carriers. The school will also help students find financing through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and state agencies.

    East Mississippi Community College

    • East Mississippi Community College provides commercial truck driver training at its West Point Extension campus. The program trains students for long-haul, over-the-road commercial truck driving. Students learn about safety, shifting, log books and handling cargo. The program also teaches students how to drive in cities, on the highway and during the evening hours. Students must have finished at least tenth grade to enroll in the program, pass a Department of Transportation drug test and physical, have a good driver's history, valid license and take a pre-enrollment test.

    SEC Training Center

    • The SEC Training Center allows students around Jackson to learn commercial truck driving. The program requires 180 hours of study to complete. Students at SEC have the benefit of small class sizes with individual support as well as a curriculum based around hands-on training. SEC offers job placement assistance for graduates, with immediate hire agreements with local carriers. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, able to pass a Department of Transportation drug screen and physical, high school graduates or equivalent and U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

    Northwest Mississippi Community College

    • Northwest Mississippi Community College offers a commercial truck driving class through its branch campus at DeSoto Center-Olive. The course meets five days a week and takes eight weeks or 240 hours to complete. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalency, be 21 years of age or older, pass a DOT drug test and physical and have a commercial drivers permit. The course consists of classroom work and driving in the field, including road and city driving. Students will also learn how to prepare their rigs for driving.
