Rivertown CDL Academy is in the city of Grand Rapids and provides a three-week Class A driving course. In addition to the standard coursework in inspecting and city and highway driving, the academy covers topics such as loading and unloading trailers and freight, fueling a large truck, loading a trailer and operating a refrigerated trailer. The school does not participate in financial aid programs. Students must undergo a drug screening and physical examination before enrolling in the school.

Founded in 1996, the Semi Academy is in Lawton, approximately 23 miles southwest of Kalamazoo in the southwestern portion of the state. All of the school's instructors have certification from the State of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Education. The school offers its courses on an on-demand basis, whenever there is a request for a class. The school offers not only Class A CDL training, but also coursework in classes B and C, which are used for smaller trucks. A two-week refresher and four-week licensing course are available for students during morning, afternoon and evening hours. The school also serves as a testing facility for the Michigan Department of Transportation, meaning students can take their skills test on-site at the conclusion of their program. The school offers career placement assistance for graduates.

Situated in Grandville, A&B CDL Truck Driving School offers day and evening Commercial Driver's License A programs. Classes last from three to four weeks, depending on whether the day or night course is selected. Defensive driving is a primary focus of the program with driving practice held both in the city and on the highway. The school offers financing for students.

Located in Grandville, West Michigan CDL offers a three-week Commercial Driver's License A driving course that prepares students to take the examination for driving all types of trucks. The course covers pre-trip experience, controls, city and highway driving, speed and space management and backing up. Day, evening and weekend courses are available. The school participates in the Michigan Works Assistance program, which offers free tuition to qualified unemployed and laid-off workers.
