Automotive Customization Schools

Automotive customization technical and vocational schools prepare students for careers as body and detail technicians, frame repair assistants and a host of other fields in auto body customization. In less than a few years, students can learn how to install state of the art stereo systems, upholster seats using vinyl and suede, or even install a hydraulic system.
  1. WyoTech

    • WyoTech is a technical school that offers training programs in automotive, diesel and motorcycle repair, in addition to a variety of other technical fields. Established in 1972, WyoTech's Ormond Beach campus is in greater Daytona Beach, Florida. The school's several automotive-related programs include the street rod and custom fabrication program. Students specializing in custom fabrication can train for careers as welders, custom paints and custom shop technicians through this program's comprehensive course of study. The custom fabrication curriculum includes coursework in customizing for suicide doors and carson style tops, and paint detailing such as airbrushing and pin striping. Students can also study automotive custom fabrication at any of WyoTech's additional campus locations in Wyoming, Pennsylvania and California.

    The Washington County Career Center High School

    • The Washington County Career Center High School is in the southeastern Ohio city of Marietta. The technical high school hosts career training programs in more than a dozen areas, from cosmetology and computer graphics to masonry and medical office technology. Students interested in pursuing careers in automotive customization professions can matriculate into Washington County's two-year auto collision/custom paint and graphics program. As part of the program's curriculum, students will study paint, refinishing, detailing and hydraulic machine operation. Graduates will receive Automotive Service Excellence Certification upon successful completion of program requirements. Enrollment in the high school is limited to sophomore students from area high schools.

    Acoustic Edge Institute

    • Established in 2001, the Acoustic Edge Institute opened its first location in Oklahoma, and expanded to include a Houston, Texas, campus the following year. Today, the institute offers an array of courses in custom fabrication, mobile electronics installation and custom interior that students can choose to take individually, rather than as part of a program. From upholstery and fiberglass shaping to custom coats and primers, Acoustic Edge students will learn how to customize automobiles through practical study. Each of the institute's automotive customization programs of study takes less than a few months to complete.
