Texas Insurance Schools

No pre-licensing classes are required to obtain a license for insurance in Texas. However, applicants must pass a licensing examination and must apply for a license within 12 months of passing the examination. Applicants submit their fingerprints as part of the licensing application. Formal state-specific training increases the likelihood of passing the licensing examination and adds data to the agent or adjusters's knowledge base. Applicants who have taken a course approved by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) are exempt from the licensing examination. After completing a TDI-approved course, the student need only apply for licensure.
