According to WyoTech live chat representatives, the Street Rod and Custom Fabrication certification course consists of more than 1,000 contact hours. Unfortunately, WyoTech doesn't post the current tuition rates on its website, but the most recently released tuition costs are approximately $16,500 as of January 2010, though students should contact the admissions department for current tuition rates and current contact hours required for the degree.

According to the WyoTech web-site, the Street Rod and Custom Fabrication course is designed to produce foundational knowledge in custom and specialized sheet metal shaping and fabrication, application of lead (body solder), M.I.G., T.I.G. and Oxy-Acetylene welding, chop tops including carson style tops, hidden pin hinges (suicide doors), body construction and custom paint techniques. Every one of these subjects are taught with hands-on instruction so students can practice and hone their skills under the guidance of an instructor to build confidence.
After the completion of the Street Rod and Custom Fabrication curriculum, graduates are qualified to work in the automotive industry as a welder, fabricator, custom painter or specialty shop technician. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, these jobs earn about $15 per hour. For graduates pursue employment or start business in custom automobile fabrication companies that specialize in restoring classic cars, they can expect to earn more than $19 per hour to start. These business can be found across the country and vary in their specialization and earnings.
