The bachelor´s degree program in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering Technology at Arizona State University prepares students for a career in automotive engineering with a curriculum that includes foundation courses in physics, statistics, mathematics and chemistry. Design-specific courses in the core degree plan include introductory and advanced levels in machine design, computer-aided design and solid molding, measurements and testing and the manufacturing process. Students receive hands-on experience in mechanics materials laboratory courses and two capstone projects. Students may select two courses per semester in the final three terms in automotive electives with a concentration in mechanical or aeronautical design.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University offers bachelor´s and master´s degree programs in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D. in automotive engineering. Courses include topics in engineering and design with computer applications, mechanical systems, materials science and numerical analysis. Students have the opportunity to participate in the Formula SAE and mini-Baha national automotive design competitions. Students can build their skills in extracurricular groups such as the honors mechanical engineering society and the Clemson auto racing society (CARS). The school´s study abroad program gives students an opportunity for international studies from two weeks to multiple semesters.

Through the school´s multiple dependent degree program, students may pursue a combined degree in art and design and mechanical engineering. The school´s sequential graduate/undergraduate study program gives students an opportunity to earn a bachelor´s degree in mechanical engineering with a master´s degree in automotive engineering in a five-year program.
