Two Year Technical Colleges in Pennsylvania

    • Pittsburgh Technical Institute (PTI) is a career school offering two-year associate degree programs, as well as certificate programs that can be completed in less time. The main campus is located 15 minutes west of downtown Pittsburgh, while a second campus is located 25 minutes northwest of the city.

      PTI offers day and evening programs that focus on preparing students for employment. The curriculum is employer-driven, and all programs include an internship component designed to give students real-world experience. Students can pursue an associate degree in fields such as building technology, hospitality management, business administration, safety and security administration, computer-aided drafting, practical nursing and network administration.

      The main campus has two computer labs, classrooms and specialty labs, as well as student apartments. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and there is no application fee.

    Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology

    • Located 71 miles west of Philadelphia, Thaddeus Stevens College is owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Students must be a state resident to attend. The school's mission is to develop Pennsylvania's technical work force; all academic programs are designed to prepare students for skilled employment. Attendees can pursue associate degrees in programs such as automotive technology, business administration, plumbing technology, carpentry technology, computer and network systems administration and metals fabrication and welding.

      Thaddeus Stevens has an enrollment of about 800 students. Its campus includes five residence halls, computer and learning labs, a dining hall, a multipurpose athletic center and athletic fields. Students can join a variety of student organizations, intercollegiate athletic programs and intramural programs.

    Berks Technical Institute

    • Berks Technical Institute offers associate degree programs in fields such as business administration management, Internet network engineering, drafting technology, graphic design and health and medical records management. The one-building school has a career services center that works with employers in the surrounding community to help graduates find jobs. High school seniors interested in attending Berks Technical Institute can take a test to determine their eligibility for a scholarship. The school is located outside Reading, Pennsylvania, about one hour northwest of Philadelphia.
