Trident Technical College offers a certificate program for phlebotomy in which students learn how to collect blood from patients for laboratory testing. New classes begin every fall, and the program can be completed on a part-time schedule. If a student pursues a part-time schedule, she must complete the course within 24 months of enrollment. The program consists of four courses: phlebotomy, phlebotomy skills, medical ethics and law, and phlebotomy experience. Along with classes and laboratory work, students must complete two days of full-time clinical experience.

Greenville Technical College offers a phlebotomy program consisting of 192 hours, including 120 hours of clinical training along with lecture time and lab practice. The clinical hours, which equate to three weeks of time, will be scheduled within the last six weeks of the program. After a student completes this program, she can take the certification exam.

Midlands Technical College offers a 51-hour course in phlebotomy. Students learn how to identify veins and tie tourniquets as well as draw blood from a patient. Upon completion of this course, students can administer glucose bedside and perform finger sticks and venipuncture. Graduates must complete 25 finger pricks and 100 blood draws to become certified.
