Warrensburg, Missouri Vocational Schools

Warrensburg is the county seat of Johnson County in west central Missouri. The city is home to approximately 16,000 residents, and their educational opportunities include several vocational school options. Students can choose between vocational certification programs, associate degree programs and bachelor’s degree programs. The programs are offered through a state university, a local career center, a community college and a private four-year college.
  1. State Fair Community College

    • Located 15 miles east of Warrensburg in Sedalia, Missouri, State Fair Community College specializes in vocational educational programs. The school offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree or a professional certificate in approximately 30 program areas. According to the school’s website, the newest programs are radiologic technology and dental hygiene. Among the AAS degree programs are accounting, automotive technology, computer-aided drafting technology, construction technology, electronics, machine tool technology, nursing and welding technology. Many of the AAS program areas also offer a one-year certification option.

    Warrensburg Area Career Center

    • The career center offers vocational training to high school and adult students. Adult education courses are available in nursing and cosmetology. Career center programs for high school students are in areas that include agriculture, computer repair, construction technology, automotive collision repair and business. The programs are designed to provide entry-level training to individuals who wish to pursue careers in certain fields. The center encourages students to continue their education through taking courses offered at local colleges.

    University of Central Missouri

    • The university, founded in 1871, offers 150 different programs. The school’s enrollment in 2009 was 11,191, according to the school’s website. The University of Central Missouri does not offer associate degrees, but its bachelor’s degrees include several that are technical or vocational degrees. Such degrees include agricultural technology, automotive technology, aviation maintenance, computer-aided drafting and design technology, electronics technology, engineering technology, graphic arts technology, nursing, photograph and fashion. Many of the vocational degree programs are part of the School of Technology, which awards graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree. The school also offers a Master of Science degree in technology.
