LPN Nursing Schools in West Virginia

The West Virginia State Board for Licensed Practical Nurse Examiners offers a list of all accredited LPN programs in the state. There are a variety of matriculation dates offered by the diverse accredited school listing. Most LPN programs require 12 months of study, which involves 1,300 hours of coursework. Admission to the programs requires satisfactorily passing background checks in addition to holding a high school diploma or GED.
  1. Academy of Technology and Careers

    • The Academy of Technology and Careers in Beckley, West Virginia, offers an LPN program with two entrance dates for matriculation--August and January. Prospective candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-admission testing at least four to five months prior to application. The Academy's general requirement for admission is a high school diploma or GED. The student may complete the program with 12 months of full-time study, after which the student should be well-prepared to successfully undertake the National Council for Licensure-Practical Nurse. Students attend classes Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

      The Academy offers financial aid to qualified applicants. As of June 2010, the total cost of the program is $5,300. The breakdown of the total cost of the program is as follows: $3,000 tuition, $450 books, $500 lab fees, $1,380 related expenses.

    Cabell County Career Technology Center

    • The School of Practical Nursing within the Cabel County Career Technology Center in Huntington, West Virginia, offers a 1,300-hour LPN program that may be completed in 12 months of full-time study. Enrollment is in June, and students complete the program in July of the following year. All prospective students must hold a high school diploma or GED for admission to Cabel County Career Technology Center. Admission requirements to the LPN program include a drug screening, criminal background check, $100 application fee, satisfactory completion of the pre-admission examination and physical examination.

      As of 2010, the total cost of attendance is $6,495, which includes $3,900 for tuition, $900 for lab fees, $1,000 for books and $575 for the NCLEX-PN exam. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.

    Fayette Institute of Technology

    • The School of Practical Nursing within Fayette Institute of Technology offers an LPN program that may be completed with 12 months of full-time study from April to March. Student course loads require attending academic courses or clinical rotations Monday through Friday, which results in a total of 1,300 hours. Prospective applicants must satisfactorily complete the pre-admission examination in addition to attending an interview and submitting a high school diploma or GED proof of completion, references, $250 application fee, physical examination, criminal background check, immunization records and current copy of a CPR card.

      As of 2010, the total cost of attendance is $4,224. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
