    • Sanford-Brown College, in Vienna, has a Licensed Practical Nursing program that offers its students the training that they will need to become successful LPN's. The course of study includes body structure and functioning, general nursing skills, medication administration, intravenous therapy, maternity and newborn, pediatrics, geriatrics and more.     Jefferson College of Health Sciences

    • The Jefferson College of Health Sciences, in Roanoake, is a one-year LPN program, preparing students for jobs in nursing homes, doctor's offices, hospitals and other health care facilities. Through class study, clinical study and laboratory study, students are trained in the areas of anatomy, nursing skills, geriatrics, nutrition, medical/surgical, maternity and newborn, pediatrics, mental health and managerial skills. Admission criteria include proof of a high school diploma or its equivalent, submission of school transcripts, an entrance exam, references, a successful interview with school administration, drug screening, a medical exam, police background checks, and admissions fees. As of May 2010, tuition for this program was approximately $4,000, with additional fees for items such as books and uniforms. Financial assistance is available for qualified applicants.     Standard Healthcare Services, Inc.

    • Standard Healthcare Services, Inc., in Falls Church, is a practical nursing program with three different learning-time options. The day and evening programs can be completed in one year. The weekend learning program can be completed in approximately 16 months. To be considered for the practical nursing program, you are required to possess a high school diploma or GED and must earn a satisfactory score on the school's entrance exam. ,You also must pay an admission fee of $75. The Practical Nursing Education Program involves classroom and clinical study of approximately 1,280 hours. Course study consists of anatomy, medication administration and general nursing knowledge and skills in the areas of geriatrics, medical, surgical, pediatric, mental health and maternal/newborn nursing. Upon satisfactory completion of this program you will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN (National Council Licensure Examination). As of May 2010, the cost of tuitionwas approximately $9,000, with additional fees for books, laboratory, uniforms, insurance and testing. Payment plans were available.
