ATI Career Training Center is a network of technical schools which has campuses in Florida, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The Oklahoma City campus offers a dental assisting program, which trains students to work in dental offices and clinics. The program features training in four- and six-handed chair-side assistance, dental front office procedures, dental laboratory techniques, radiology and CPR and offers an externship program. Their career services include continuous job placement assistance, help with cover letter and resume preparation and interview coaching.
The Metro Technology Center in Oklahoma City offers a program in dental assistance which instructs students in areas of patient care, front office and laboratory duties, infection control, dental materials usage, dental charting and chairside functions. Additionally, students at MTC are able to train at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry clinic. The program length is 1150 hours, and financial aid is available to those who apply for it. The average salary of the Oklahoma alumni is $12 an hour.
The Francis Tuttle Technology Center offers a program in dental assisting that includes a more rounded education. The curriculum progresses from studies of fundamental dental materials, including taking impressions for models, to complex restorative procedures. It includes a study of dental history, dental terminology, basic body function and structure, tooth formation and teeth structure, diet and diseases, radiology and x-ray techniques, dental ethics and legal issues, office procedures and employment seeking skills. Its alumni salary range is $8 to $16 an hour.
