New York's Culinary Schools

"The Big Apple" is home to some of the best culinary schools where you can train to become a professional chef. You'll find schools that accept students for full-course programs, but short-term courses are also offered for those who want to gain more experience or learn new techniques. If you're interested in the culinary arts, take a tour, attend an open house or even sit in on a class for one day in one of New York's culinary schools.
  1. Institute of Culinary Education

    • Founded in 1975, the Institute of Culinary Education is the city's largest center for culinary education, with five floors and 42,000 square feet. Study here on a full-time or part-time basis if you want to focus on a career in health spas, restaurants, bakeries, private cooking, catering, teaching, consulting or food writing. Public classes are also offered for cooks of all skill levels who may attend a demonstration, partial participation or hands-on class.
