The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater was founded in 1958 by Alvin Ailey---a visionary, dancer and choreographer---to bring the American modern dance tradition and African-American cultural expression to the world. The classes that are taught at this school provide students with an opportunity to learn over 25 fitness and dance techniques. Classes are offered here include ballet, hip-hop, the Dunham Technique, Horton's, modern, West African, jazz and tap.

The Juilliard School was founded in 1905 and is known as one of the best schools of performing arts in the country. The dance division was established in 1951. Juilliard offers students an option to either earn their diploma or their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. All dance students are required to complete courses that include ballet, modern dance, elements of performing, dance history, stagecraft and production, dance composition and acting. In addition, students may choose to complete elective courses in repertory solos, jazz, point, voice and tap.

Broadway Dance Center has been in business for more than 25 years and has a 23,000-square-foot facility and offers over 200 dance classes on a weekly basis. The faculty of this studio is comprised of over 80 individuals who are in charge of a variety of programs and workshops. Children and teen programs are available as well as international student visa programs, absolute beginner workshops and summer intern programs. Students who are at least 13 years of age may drop in any of the 200-plus classes offered each week. Classes offered include yoga, jazz-funk, ballet, hip-hop and Broadway jazz.
