The Conway Area Academic Center is a White Mountains Community College located on Technology Lane. It offers certificate programs for careers such as automotive technology, early childhood education, medical assistant, massage therapy and food service production. The school's training programs are basic skills, licensed nursing assistant and tractor trailer driver, while its degree programs include accounting, culinary arts, office management, liberal arts, nursing and baking and pastry arts. Admission requirements include the $20 application, a complete $15 ACCUPLACER assessment, attending the $30 orientation/registration session and completion of any financial aid forms. All students must have a high school diploma or GED and any other transcripts. As of January 2011, the cost for residents are $195 per credit while out-of-state students pay $445 per credit. The center is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
The MWV Career and Technical Center, located in the Kennett High School on Eagles Way, provides skills and job readiness to students of all ages. It offers training in auto technology, culinary arts, graphics, marketing and hospitality, to name a few. For adults and anyone older than 16, it has evening and weekend courses, such as Introduction to Computers, Introduction to Microsoft Office, Introduction to Web Design and a Creative Writing Workshop.
Granite State College, located on Technology Lane, is known for its small classes, affordable tuition, supportive faculty and serving more than 50,000 students. Founded in 1972, it is part of the university system of New Hampshire of four institutions and is especially popular with working adults. It offers associate and bachelor's degrees, and provides non-credit and training options such as Foster Parent Training. The college also has online associate degree programs such as general studies, business and early childhood education; bachelor programs include applied studies, behavioral science, criminal justice and health care management. As of January 2011, tuition for residents is $260 per credit while out-of-state students pay $275. Application fees range from $45 to $145 and admission requirements are a high school diploma or GED.
Located in Concord just about an hour from Conway, NHTI offers 33 degree programs, two professional certificate programs, one diploma program and 27 certificate programs. Programs include accounting, computers, engineering technology, justice/legal studies and visual arts. To apply, a student must pay the $20 application fee, submit official transcripts and pass the entrance exam. As of January 2011, tuition costs are $195 per credit for residents and $445 for non residents, plus a $100 deposit. You have the choice to pay in full or set up an installment payment plan. The institution opened in 1965 and in 2008 it was considered a community college with 63 academic programs.
