Art Programs in France

The study of art is a worldwide endeavor, involving either the simple observation of a work, or more formal study. In France, especially, art is of supreme importance. Many residents and tourists of the capital city of Paris visit The Louvre, a famous museum housing thousands of priceless pieces. French artists, historically, have played an important part in the development of art as a whole, and in France, budding students can choose from a number of programs.
  1. Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art

    • Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art is located in the town of Brittany, and was established 17 years ago in 1993. Interested students may pursue courses of study either in the fall, spring, or summer, with travel options available as part of the curriculum. Generally, the cities of Berlin and Paris are the seminar locations of choice, but students also may travel to a number of other cities, including Madrid, Venice, and London. Students studying for a general semester may take courses in keeping with a bachelor's program, either a bachelor of art of bachelor of Fine Arts degree, as well as graduate level work. Summer students attend through the Brown University program, which is open to students not studying at the university. Potential students must be at least in their junior or senior year of college, or be in possession of a two-year, associate's degree. Graduate students must be in possession of a BA or BFA, and if limited in training, must possess enough training for those without a studio-focused background.
