    • The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) was among a list of the best Master of Fine Art schools for 2009 in U.S. News and World Report. Notable for its exceptional graphic design department, RISD also offers quality programs in interior design, painting and drawing, metals and jewelry, glass and industrial design, among others. More than 2,350 undergraduate and graduate students work toward a number of possible degrees, including a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.), Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) and Master of Architecture. The ratio of students to teachers is 8.8 to 1, with an average class size of 15 students. As of 2010, the cost of tuition and fees annually was $38,295.

    • The California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts) was listed in U.S. News and World Report's top Master of Fine Arts programs for 2009. Cal Arts is recognized as a leader in the fields of multimedia, visual arts and photography. This school also guides students through programs in animation, film and film directing, graphic design and writing. As of 2009, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees were offered to 885 undergraduates and 501 graduate students. The student-to-faculty ratio during this same period was listed as 8.7 to 1, with an average of 14 students per class. Tuition and fees as of 2010 were $36,742 annually.

    • The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) was among a list of top Master of Fine Arts programs in U.S. News and World Report's 2009 issue of the best fine arts schools. At SAIC students will discover elite programs in sculpture, painting and drawing, the fiber arts, photography, sound and video. Degrees include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Science, Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts. As of 2009, SAIC listed 2,329 undergraduates, 655 graduate students, a student to teacher ratio of 9 to 1 and an average of 15 students per class. Tuition and fees as of 2010 were listed at $36,150 per year.
