  1. Institute of American Indian Arts

    • The Institute of American Indian Arts opened in 1962 with funding from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. This undergraduate arts college is focused on Native American art and cultural identity. Programs are offered by faculty in creative writing, indigenous native studies, museum studies, new media arts and studio arts. In 2010, the institute will offer its first ever summer semester.

    Otis College of Art and Design

    • Otis College opened in 1918 with eight classes a week and today offers undergraduate majors that range from toy design to foundations. It has more than 12,000 undergraduate students and is the first independent school of art in Southern California. The academic sustainability initiative is powered by its architecture program with a strong emphasis on integrated learning.

    Savannah College of Art and Design

    • Savannah College of Art and Design has two undergraduate degrees, the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts, and offers four locations for study: Savannah, South Carolina; Atlanta; Hong Kong; and an online option, as well as study abroad in France. SCAD's student body is composed of students from all 50 states; 10 percent of the student body is international. Its historic preservation program in Savannah has been recognized by the Victorian Society of America for its service to restoring architectural treasures in the Deep South.

    Pratt Institute

    • Charles Pratt opened the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, in 1887 with fortunes he acquired in the oil business. The institute's motto is "Be True to Your Work, and Your Work Will Be True to You." The Pratt Institute today offers a variety of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees, including communication design, film, art history and writing. Pratt Institute has two affiliate two-year programs: PrattMWP in Uttica, New York, and Delaware College of Art and Design in Wilmington, Delaware. The oldest top undergraduate art program is ranked among the top 10 by U.S. News & World Report and College Crunch.
