How to Cite Bullets and Lists in APA Format

APA format is a commonly used style in education and business. The format was developed by social scientists 80 years ago to enhance the standards of communication. With APA style, documents must be written in a clear and consistent manner. Including lists and bullets, referred to as seriation, in a paper following APA formatting helps organize ideas.

Instructions

    • 1

List items in a numbered or letter format when the items must be in chronological order. Indent each line, and use "a," "b," and "c" or "1," "2" and "3" with two spaces after. Use letters when including seriation in a paragraph.

    • 2

Use bullets when the text does not need to be in a special order. Indent each line, and add two spaces after each bullet.

    • 3

Place headings for lists and bullets in the center of the page. If you have more than one, the second heading should go on the left on the next line and the third should be indented.
