Scholarships & Grants for Latin Women

There are a number of scholarships and grants at the disposal of Latin women looking to further their careers, pursue a higher education or jump-start a small business. Regardless of your dreams for the future, there are a number of resources targeted specifically toward providing Latin women with the monetary support they need to better their lives and the lives of their families. From national organizations to small, private groups, it just takes a little searching and determination to find the resources you need.
  1. The Latin American Women's Association's Women's Scholarship

    • This award, designated for women looking to pursue a new career or enhance the one they have, is given out annually by the Latin American Women's Association. To be eligible to receive this award, applicants must be 25 years of age or older and be accepted and enrolled in a business certification course at an accredited institution. Applicants must also be residents of the Charlotte-Mecklenberg region of North Carolina. The application includes two letters of recommendation, a personal letter, an interview and other requirements.

    The Hispanic Scholarship Fund

    • One of the most prominent Latino organizations in the nation, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund provides financial support for Hispanic students who are working toward college and graduate degrees. HSF offers students more than a dozen scholarship options, often in conjunction with corporations such as AT&T and Proctor & Gamble, that carry with them specific requirements. Often the awards differ from one another on the basis of age eligibility as well as college-major preferences. Most of the awards require submission of the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), which is available online.

The Madrina Award of the Latina Leadership Network

    • Established in 1992, the Madrina Award of the Latina Leadership Network recognizes the accomplishments of Hispanic women who have devoted their time and energy to improving the California Community College system. To apply, applicants must be members of the Latina Leadership Network and have demonstrated a commitment to improving the quality of education for Latinas in the California Community College system. Nominees can be students, faculty, staff, administrators or trustees.
