Grants for Cultural Exchange

Cultural exchange programs are essential for ensuring understanding across the broad spectrum of global peoples. The programs expose the culture, language, arts, history, experiences and day-to-day life of nations and ethnic groups in ways that allow for increased empathy and deeper bonds across international borders.
  1. The Japan Foundation

    • The Japan Foundation provides funding for programs for and about Japan.

The Japan Foundation funds cultural exchange between Japan and other nations through nine grants in three fields of the arts. The fields for the grants are figurative arts, performing arts and audio-visual arts. Two visual arts grants support exhibitions and projects in countries other than Japan. Performing arts grants are awarded for performances overseas, in America and in Europe. Audio-Visual and publication grants provide funding for translation programs, film or visual media productions on Japan and overseas film or media events held by Japanese citizens or youth. Not all awards require recipients to be Japanese citizens.
