Weekend MBA programs are ideal for mid-career professionals who do not want to interrupt the trajectory of their careers and/or who have family and relationship obligations. Leading business schools accommodate the schedules of part-time students by offering modified versions of their curriculum for those who can only take classes on weekends.
  1. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)

    • UCLA's Anderson School of Management is consistently ranked among the top overall MBA programs. Its part-time fully employed MBA (FEMBA) is number two on the 2009 "Bloomberg BusinessWeek" list of top programs. Students who are admitted into the highly competitive school have several study options including all-day Saturday sessions. According to the school, Saturday classes are popular among commuters who drive in from San Diego and Santa Barbara and "fly-in" students from San Francisco and Las Vegas. Students complete the MBA in 33 months. FEMBA students who are able to take time off of work can participate in the school's international exchange opportunities and its Washington Campus Program. As of 2009, there were 805 part-time students, and tuition and fees totaled $33,000.

    University of California, Berkeley

    • The Haas School of Business on the campus of UC Berkeley, a major research university, has a three-year part-time MBA program with a weekend class option. Entrance into Haas is competitive, and only 41 percent of applicants were accepted in 2009. The school is number three on the 2009 "Bloomberg BusinessWeek" list of top part-time MBA programs. Saturday classes alternate between the main Berkeley campus and a Silicon Valley satellite location. Haas provides a free shuttle bus service with Wi-Fi for students in the area giving them the chance to mingle and network with each other. Projects designed to accommodate working students include a leadership development series, competitions and conferences. As of 2009, there were 775 part-time students, and tuition and fees totaled $26,904.

    • Students in the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business Weekend MBA program study two weekends a month for two years to earn the degree. Classes are offered on Friday evenings and all day Saturday. Most instruction is onsite, but some classes utilize distance learning requiring students to watch lectures online so class time can be spent on discussion. The majority of classes are held at the main Ann Arbor campus with a few offered in the nearby town of Southfield. The school is number five on the 2009 "Bloomberg BusinessWeek" list of top part-time MBA programs. As of 2009, there were 588 part-time students, and tuition and fees totaled $17,335 .
