Cuesta College offers a program in library and information technology; this program focuses on the information researching and technical skills needed in the information age we live in. Students have the option of completing the program to obtain an Associate in Science degree or a Certificate of Achievement; both options can be completed online with only two required visits to the campus. Students will take courses that include introduction to computer applications; library and information center collections; technology in the workplace; ethics in the information age; and research skills for the information age.
Cuesta College offers a program in emergency medical technology that prepares students to work as emergency medical technicians. In addition to the classroom instruction, students in this program will also participate in the field and emergency room as part of their clinical observation. After the basic, EMT-1 portion of the program, students are required to take the hazardous materials (Haz Mat) course. As a final portion of the program, students will take an emergency vehicles operators course; in this portion of the program, students will also receive hands-on training as driver's training and will learn defense tactics and how to safely and effectively operate an emergency vehicle.
Cuesta College has a paralegal program that prepares students with the skills set and knowledge they need in order to become a paralegal. This program will also satisfy the need for current paralegals to complete their requirements of continuing education. Students have the option of pursuing either certificate of completion of an Associate of Arts degree. Students will be required to take introduction to criminal justice; introduction to law office procedures for paralegals; civil litigation procedures and documents; tort and insurance law; family law practice and procedure; and interviewing and investigation for paralegals.
