More than 10,000 students attend Anoka-Ramsey Community College on its two campuses, in Coon Rapids and Cambridge. Coon Rapids is a northern suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Cambridge is a rural town north of the city. Located east of Minneapolis/St. Paul in the suburb of White Bear Lake, Century College is the largest two-year college in Minnesota. More than 12,000 students attend the school to study a great variety of programs, including nursing, law enforcement, advertising and marketing, and automotive. Classes are available during the daytime, evenings and weekends, as well as online. In addition to associate's degrees in science (AS) or arts (AA), various occupational diplomas and certificates are available for students going directly into the workforce.

The largest student body of any Minnesota community college is found at Normandale Community College. It is located in the southern edge of Minneapolis, just outside of the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, in Bloomington. The students of Normandale have many opportunities for cultural engagement in the area. The college has an especially notable writing program, and Normandale publishes The Paper Lantern. This literary journal is a publication of creative writing. In addition to writing, prominent areas of study at Normandale include computer science and technology, criminal justice, dental hygiene and nursing.
