Bible Colleges in West Indies

Bible colleges provide intensive training in theology and religious studies for those who seek professions in Christian ministry. Currently, the Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association (CETA) has approved 48 theological colleges to provide this training to students across the Caribbean. These colleges provide Bible-based curricula, student housing and certification ranging from associate's degrees to master's degrees and doctorates.
  1. Assemblies of God Bible College

    • The Assemblies of God Bible College in Jamaica is accredited through Global University, USA, and emphasizes both theological study and social service. It offers a three-year associate's degree in theology, providing courses in hermeneutics, systematic theology, homiletics and pedagogy. Additionally, the college presents opportunities for students to engage in ministries to children, churches and the streets of Christiana, Mandeville and Spaldings.

    Caribbean Wesleyan College

    • The Caribbean Wesleyan College was officially founded in 1996 as the result of the merging of the Jamaica Wesleyan Bible Institute (founded in 1977) and the Caribbean Wesleyan College (founded in 1974). It offers a variety of degrees, including a B.A. in Theology and Pastoral Ministry, a B.A. in Christian Education, an A.A. in Christian Ministries and minors in either Pastoral Counseling or Christian Leadership.

      As a Wesleyan college, it focuses on training leaders for Wesleyan Holiness Church denominations, emphasizing dedicated service and holistic education. As of 2010, the Caribbean Wesleyan College was in the final year of the accreditation process with CETA.

    Jamaica Bible College & Community Institute

    • The Jamaica Bible College & Community Institute is accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) and listed as an independent school with the Ministry of Education and Culture. Students can pursue a three-year program for a diploma in theology, or a four-year program which adds a minor in business or counseling. The college also offers an associate's degree in business. Each academic program follows a regulated program structure, with room for electives that ensure a well-rounded education

    West Indies School of Theology

    • Founded by Pentecostal Canadian missionaries in 1946, the West Indies School of Theology has since become a member school of CETA, as well as the official training site for the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies. Students can pursue a two-year diploma or a four-year bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with majors in Bible and Theology, Christian Education, Pastoral Studies or Missions. The college claims to supply the preachers of 98 percent of Pentecostal Assembly churches in the West Indies, while training and preparing its students for ministerial responsibilities beyond "pulpit ministry" as well.
