Colleges in Parkersburg, West Virginia

The oil and gas industry has been present in West Virginia since the mid-1700s. George Washington bought 250 acres in the former territory in 1771 to become the nation's first petroleum speculator as well as its first President. Parkersburg links its heritage to the oil and gas industry. Drilling began in the area as early as 1819. As basic courses, the college offers doctrine, monotheism (the belief in one deity), Jewish studies, ministerial ethics, Church history and government, sociology and dispensations, or periods of time examined in relation to a plan or purpose of God. The Book of Romans and the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy and Numbers) are included in the core curriculum.
