Randolph County, West Virginia Colleges

Randolph County is the largest county in the Mountain State, incorporating a large portion of the Monongahela National Forest. The area is rich in natural beauty and historic sites, but it does not boast an abundance of colleges. Still, there are choices for those who want to pursue their education in the area.
  1. Davis & Elkins College

    • Davis & Elkins College is located within Randolph County in the town of Elkins, the county seat. It is a small liberal arts college, established in 1904 by the two U.S. Senators whose names it bears. Today Davis & Elkins (D&E) offers numerous academic programs in a variety of disciplines. Most of its students are enrolled in baccalaureate programs, but the school also offers a number of vocationally oriented associate's degrees.

    West Virginia Wesleyan College

    • West Virginia Wesleyan is liberal arts college located near Randolph County in Buckhannon, 25 miles west of Elkins. The school offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in business administration, nursing, athletic training and education. WVWC grants bachelor's degrees in arts (B.A.), music education (B.M.E.), science (B.S.) and nursing (B.S.N.); and master's degrees in business administration (M.B.A.), education (M.Ed.), nursing (M.S.N.) and science (M.S. in Athletic Training). The school also offers several programs with a vocational focus.

    Fred Eberle Technical Center

    • The Fred Eberle Technical Center is a vocational school located near Randolph County in Buckhannon. The school offers a range of trade and technical programs in various programs, including the construction trades, computer networking and repair, electrical and diesel technology, licensed practical nursing, welding and a variety of health-related occupations. The Center also offers evening classes for working adults.

    Alderson-Broaddus College

    • Alderson-Broaddus College (A-B) is a liberal arts college located near Randolph County in Philippi, 25 miles northwest of Elkins. It was formed in 1932 by the merger of two older Baptist colleges, Alderson and Broaddus, which dated from 1901 and 1871 respectively. The college has schools of education, health sciences, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences, and also offers a graduate program for physician assistants. Some of the A-B's programs are also vocational in nature.
