The University of Central Florida has a health care informatics program that leads students to earn their Master of Science degree at graduation. This program is an executive program completed online on a full-time schedule in 16 months of study. Although this program is an online program, the curriculum offers some sessions that take place on-campus.

Excelsior College has a health care informatics certificate program that provides students who have an interest in the improvement of health care delivery through information technology with the opportunity to advance their education level. Students who are interested in this program must have a bachelor’s degree and must be a healthcare professional. This program uses distance education and students take courses that include data information and knowledge, informatics and health care delivery systems, issues in health care informatics and informatics project management.

The University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee offers a healthcare informatics degree program that leads to a Master of Science degree in healthcare informatics. This program can be taken on a full-time or part-time schedule and requires that students take courses that include information technology project management, healthcare database design and management, introduction to healthcare informatics and introduction to database systems.

The College of St. Scholastica offers five healthcare informatics certificate programs at a graduate level. These certificate programs use an online format and only three out of five require a one-week attendance on campus. The three certificate programs that require onsite attendance for one week are healthcare informatics, nursing informatics and electronic health record strategies. The remaining two programs, project management and revenue management and compliance, do not require on-site attendance. Students can expect to complete each program in one year of study.
