Washington State RN Programs

Registered nursing programs provide students with an opportunity to enter into the nursing field as a registered nurse as well as an opportunity for licensed practical nurses to become registered nurses. Registered nursing programs also provide current registered nurses who have a diploma or associate's degree in nursing with an opportunity to further her education.
  1. Highline Community College

    • Highline Community College has a registered nursing program that has an option for students who are currently licensed as practical nurses. Students who complete this program earn an Associate of Applied Science degree within two years of study on a full-time schedule. Students who pursue the LPN to RN option can complete the program in one year on a full-time schedule. Courses include core concepts in nursing, pharmacology in nursing, issues and trends and community-based nursing.

    Washington State University

    • Washington State University has an RN to BSN degree program that is designed for registered nurses who wish to further their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. This program is completed in an online, distance-learning format and includes nine theory courses in addition to the clinical practicum requirement. Courses include professional nursing concepts and issues, nursing leadership, psychiatric and mental health concepts, nursing management and analysis of health care ethics.

    Lake Washington Technical College

    • Lake Washington Technical College has an Associate of Applied Science degree program that prepares students to become registered nurses. Aside from the time it takes to complete the prerequisites, students can expect the finish this program in six quarters on a full-time schedule over the course of two years. Students may enter into the program in the fall, spring or summer semesters and take courses that include nursing foundations, pharmacology, nursing and the child-bearing family, lifespan psychology and professional nursing practice.

    South Seattle Community College

    • South Seattle Community College has an LPN to RN ladder program that is designed for licensed practical nurses to become registered nurses. This program begins in the fall semester of each year and takes three quarters to complete. Upon completion, students earn an Associate of Applied Science degree and are ready to test for licensure. Courses include health and wellness, nursing experience, nursing role and nursing theory.

    North Seattle Community College

    • North Seattle Community College has a ladder program that is designed for licensed practical nurses who are interested in becoming registered nurses. This program is designed to be completed in three quarters and prepares students for the licensure examination. Required courses include human nutrition, family nursing, advanced nursing skills, transition to registered nursing practice and lifespan psychology.
