Miami Security School offers the basic, class D security officer training which consists of 24 hours of instruction. The training is delivered over the course of three days and is offered for students to enroll every other week. The training is held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday each applicable week and the hours of instruction are between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Some of the training that is offered in this program includes report writing, use of force, emergency procedures, crime and accident prevention, fire suppression and observation skills. Once students have completed the program, they will obtain a temporary license pending delivery of the permanent license within 60 to 90 days from the state of Florida.

Allstate Training Academy has a class D license security officer training program that consists of the initial 24 hours of required training before obtaining the license. This training is delivered over the course of three days for eight hours of instruction on each day. The classes are held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during the week. The hours of instruction on each day begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Some of the training in this program includes legal issues and liabilities, emergency procedures, basic first aid and crime and accident prevention. After students have completed the program, they will be issued a temporary license until the permanent license is received from the state; this usually takes between 60 and 90 days from applying.

Safety and Intelligence Institute is one of the only schools in the state of Florida to offer training continuously throughout the year on a weekly basis. The school has two locations, one in Clearwater and the other in Orlando; the Clearwater location is the main campus. There are two parts to the class D training; the first part is the initial 24-hour class and the second part is the continuation 16-hour class. The first part of the program is delivered over the course of two days for 12 hours of instruction each day. The second part of the program must be completed within six months from the day that the students obtained his or her license. This part is delivered over the course of two days as well with eight hours of instruction on each day.
